Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has reportedly come up with a detailed tactical plan in a bid to try and stop Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal in next month’s Finalissima.
Yamal’s Spain are set to take on Argentina on March 27 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, as the reigning European champions face the South American champions.
The game will see Yamal come up against Lionel Messi for the first time and promises to be an intriguing affair.
Scaloni has already been doing his homework for the match and is plotting
how to stop Yamal. Nicolás Tagliafico is expected to play a key role up against the teenager but he will need help, according to Doble Amarillo.
The Argentina boss plans to also field a “midfield with greater physical presence” and will task one of his players to “constantly drop back and provide cover” which will limit the space Yamal has to operate in.
Yamal is expected to return to the Spain squad for the match and move on from the controversy that erupted at the end of 2025 when he dropped out of World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey after undergoing treatment for his pubalgia.
