“The Train” isn’t here for a farewell tour.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight madman Nate Landwehr returns to action against veteran fan favorite Cub Swanson on the UFC 327 main card this weekend (Sat., April 11, 2026) inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
For Swanson, it’s a career finale — a 21-year run that dates back to 2004 and includes 25 fights inside the Octagon. He’ll also go down as the final fighter from the WEC era to compete in the UFC.
For Landwehr?
It’s just another
fight.
The always-intense Featherweight isn’t getting caught up in the emotions of Swanson’s retirement bout — and has no intention of playing the role of a feel-good sendoff.
“Coming into the UFC from M-1 Global, it was the fight that I wanted, and we’re about to find out Saturday night. I feel like it’s two dads at a baseball game and we’re going to figure it out,” Landwher said during UFC 327 media day. “I remember running into his wife during 2024 International Fight Week when he was fighting Andre Fili, and I said I was pulling for him — I ain’t pulling for him now. I just saw him out there, and it’s always that awkward moment where we’re like, ‘Yo, what up,’ but I’m here to hurt you, and you’re here to hurt me.”
And if there’s any buildup left?
It’s almost over.
“It’s kind of like playing hide-and-go-seek as a kid, and the countdown is almost done,” Landwher added. “You hid where you hid.”
Despite the aggressive mindset, Landwehr made it clear he respects Swanson’s longevity in a brutal sport.
“I respect the fact that you know, it’s tough to be in this game, let along be in this game for as long as he has — in any sport. If you’re in the UFC, then you’ve got my respect,” Landwehr concluded.
Still, respect won’t stop what’s coming.
The 37-year-old Clarksville, Tennessee native is currently riding a two-fight losing streak — both losses coming by finish — and is determined to get back on track.
And more importantly…
He doesn’t want to be the final highlight of Swanson’s career.
