Today’s rumor mill is all about alternative as Julian Alvarez’s future continues to make all kinds of headlines across Spain ahead of the start of the 2026-27 season.
Over at Diario Sport, the word is that Al-Nassr striker Jhon Duran has been offered to Barcelona as an alternative to Alvarez.
Duran is eager to leave Saudi Arabia after a tricky time and is on the lookout for a new club. He started off well but has since been shipped out on loan to Zenit St. Petersburg and Fenerbahce.
Barcelona have been
linked with Duran before and Sport say Al-Nassr have asked if they want to reignite that interest this summer. Benfica are also admirers and are considering taking Duran on loan with an option to buy.
And Barca’s interest in Alvarez seems to have Atletico thinking about potential replacements. El Chiringuito have a juicy exclusive and report that Mikel Oyarzabal is the man Diego Simeone wants this summer.
Oyarzabal has also been targeted by Barcelona this summer but it now seems Atletico could try to tempt him away from Real Sociedad. The word is that there has already been some contact and there’s optimism a deal could be done.
The Spain star has played down talk of a move to Barcelona while at the World Cup but could he be swayed by Atletico?
