Louisiana Tech only had to drive 70 miles on Tuesday afternoon to win their first bowl game in six years as they scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Coastal Carolina 23-14 in the 2025 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.
The first quarter was a sloppy one as each team missed a pair of field goals to stay scoreless until the final minute, when Tad Hudson found Dominic Knicely for a 20 yard score to put the Chanticleers ahead 7-0.
Right before the two minute warning, the Bulldogs finally
got on the board with a 42-yard field goal from Kaegan Kant to make it 7-3. However, Coastal quickly answered as Hudson got his second touchdown of the half, this time connecting with Roddy Waahington as the Chants had a 14-3 lead at the half.
In the second half, it was all LA Tech as John Hoyet Chance drilled a 51 yarder to cut the lead to 14-6 before a pair of touchdowns to open the fourth quarter, one a 52-yard strike from Trey Kukuk to Marlion Jackson and then a short run from Andrew Burnette that was set up by a big Kukuk run gave the Bulldogs the lead in the fourth.
Kant added a second field goal in the final minute to put it away as the Bulldogs picked up the 23-14 win in Shreveport over Coastal Carolina.
This was the final game for LA Tech as a member of Conference USA as the Bulldogs will be joining the Sun Belt beginning in 2026.
