The Cleveland Browns officially have their head coach locked up for the 2026 NFL season, and unofficially, several coaches are coming in on the offensive side of the ball. According to reports, Browns HC Todd Monken will or has hired:
- OC Travis Switzer
- OL coach George Warhop
- Associate HC Daniel Stern
- Offensive Quality Control Ian Kolste
- QB coach Mike Bajakian
- Pass game coordinator Danny Breyer
- TE coach Jeff Blasko
A reconciliation with DC Jim Schwartz is still possible, but Monken made it clear that the team has no plans to change the system on defense. That could mean a current staffer is elevated in Schwartz’s place if the new head coach and old defensive coordinator cannot
find a common ground.
Monken isn’t just bringing in former Baltimore Ravens coaches, as he is reportedly hiring a high school football head coach as his Chief of Staff:
Carr has a history with Monken as he was the director of football operations at Southern Miss, in Cleveland’s head coach’s only other top job in the sport. Carr, a former Louisiana Tech wide receiver, also coached the same position at Louisiana Monroe and Tory before taking over two different high school teams for one season each, the last two years.
Carr confirmed the report, sharing his thoughts and what his message to his high school players:
“I tell our players all the time that you have dreams and goals and that doesn’t stop as kids,” Carr said. “You’ll go your whole life still wanting to reach goals and aspirations. Anytime you get in this profession as a coach or player, to try and reach a pinnacle of a profession is what you strive for. To have the opportunity to live out my childhood dream and join the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns is a dream of mine. I wanted to be a part of the profession as long as I could remember.”
Callie Brownson served as former Browns HC Kevin Stefanski’s Chief of Staff for a number of years. The role has a myriad of responsibilities behind the scenes, including sifting through requests for the coach’s time and attention.
