Manchester United have closed the deal to sign Colombian midfield talent Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza.
According to an update on X by Fabrizio Romano, Man United have completed the signing of Orozco on a $1
million transfer fee. It is a pre-contract deal as the 17-year-old will join The Red Devils’ ranks in the summer of 2026 when he becomes 18.
Orozco captains the U-17 outfit of Colombia and has been capped nine times by his country in that age group. He caught the eyes of European clubs for his remarkable performances in the South American U-17 Championship earlier this year as he took Colombia to the final, where they lost to Brazil in a shootout.
United fans will be able to see more of Orozco later this year when he features for his country in the U-17 World Cup, as he will aim to showcase his talent against Germany, North Korea and El Salvador in the group stages of the competition.
With this signing, the United management hopes to bring in a young midfielder to their side, which has struggled to dominate situations in the department. While players like Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo already feature in midfield for the club, Orozco is expected to come with that youthful edge, ready to be sharpened and unleashed as a long-term asset.
Orozco joined Fortaleza in the summer transfer window from Rojo FC, and this deal is set to aid them financially while providing United with a potential South American superstar.
