In a bit of a surprise, the Miami Dolphins have requested to interview lame duck Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for their open head-coaching job.
Last week, the Washington Commanders
asked to interview Graham for their open defensive-coordinator job. It is likely Graham will get more interest as a defensive coordinator rather than as a head coach. Also, he is likely going to be considered as a long-shot candidate in Miami.
Graham has had head-coaching interviews in recent head-coaching hiring cycles. The Raiders will get third-round draft picks in 20026 and 2027 as part of the NFL”s Rooney Rule if Graham is hired as a head coach.
If he were to get hired as a head coach, it would be a terrific bonus for the Raiders. There is no sure thing he will be kept on the staff of the new head coach.
Graham has been the Raiders’ defensive coordinator since 2022 and has worked under Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and Pete Carroll. That is pretty rare in the league.
