The Commanders receiver corps is being thinned out by injury. Washington will play Sunday’s game against the L.A. Rams without Treylon Burks or Dyami Brown, the team announced Friday evening on its official injury report.
Burks is dealing with a foot injury that kept him out of practice all week. Brown suffered a calf injury in Thursday’s practice that the Commanders are concerned about.
All this comes shortly after Terry McLaurin was lost for the year with a torn petellar tendon in his knee.
As The
Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala originally pointed, Stefon Diggs and Antonio Williams were the only receivers at practice who have caught a pass in a game to this point. That’s, well, not great.
The injury report was relatively clean outside of that, though the team has absorbed significant recent losses of those — like Javon Kinlaw and Jeremy McNichols — who are now on injured reserve.
Johnny Newton was considered questionable on the injury report, as those on IR with open practice windows usually are. We should learn about his availability on Saturday.
Also, NFL Network reports that superstar Rams edge rusher Myles Garrett is expected to be activated off injured reserve for Sunday’s game.
