In our “Let’s Argue” series, Mark Gunnels considers the hot takes, wacky predictions and unpopular opinions of Kansas City Chiefs fans from all over the world.

If our average level of play doesn’t improve over the first five games, we’ll go .500 over the last 12 games
I disagree because one thing we’ve learned about the Chiefs over the years is that they tend to play down to their competition, but they also know how to elevate their game when the stakes are higher. You can’t just look at their average
level of play and assume that’s what you’ll get every week, especially against the better teams in the league. This team has consistently shown it can flip that switch when it matters most.

Chiefs win Super Bowl over the 49ers
I can definitely see Chiefs-49ers Part 3 in the Super Bowl. These are arguably the two most complete teams in football, and both have the coaching, talent, and experience to make another deep postseason run. But until San Francisco proves it can beat Mahomes when it matters most, I’m rolling with Kansas City AGAIN.
aadicker says:
The Chiefs’ first loss of the season will be against the Falcons
I agree the Buffalo Bills are the biggest threat because Josh Allen will always make them dangerous, especially in January. But I’m not sleeping on the Jacksonville Jaguars either — they’ve got enough talent on both sides of the ball to be a real problem in the AFC. That said, if the Chiefs get to the postseason healthy with Mahomes, an improved running game, and a defense that keeps developing, I’ll take my chances against anybody.
CleverlyNamed says:
We do not need another WR and trading for one midseason will not move the needle much
I disagree because while I don’t think the Chiefs necessarily NEED another receiver, that doesn’t mean adding the right guy wouldn’t move the needle. If a legitimate difference-maker becomes available, why wouldn’t you explore it, especially when you’re trying to maximize another Super Bowl window with Patrick Mahomes? There’s a big difference between making a move just to make one and adding a weapon who could take this offense to another level.
