A busy midweek round of Premier League fixtures brings crucial momentum shifts across the table.
With injuries, suspensions, and fatigue playing a major role at this stage of the season, squad depth could prove decisive.
Manchester City’s situation surrounding Erling Haaland dominates headlines, while Spurs find themselves dangerously close to the relegation battle.
Several European hopefuls will also look to strengthen their positions as the campaign enters a decisive stretch. Fine margins are expected
across a packed schedule.
Tuesday
Bournemouth v Brentford
Bournemouth remain without long-term absentees Ben Doak and Julio Soler. Lewis Cook’s recent hamstring injury is expected to keep him out until after the international break.
However, striker Evanilson is likely to return from a dead leg, providing a welcome boost.
For Brentford, Aaron Hickey and Caoimhín Kelleher are doubts.
Kelleher missed the last match following the birth of his child.
Long-term absentee Joshua Dasilva has returned to training but is unlikely to feature as he continues building match fitness.
Everton v Burnley
Everton will be without Carlos Alcaraz after he sustained an injury in training that is expected to sideline him for three to four weeks. Jack Grealish remains their only other absentee and has been ruled out for the season.
Burnley are still waiting on the returns of Axel Tuanzebe and Armando Broja, who are progressing in their recoveries but remain weeks away. Marcus Edwards is being assessed and is a doubt for this fixture.
Leeds v Sunderland
Leeds continue to manage a relatively light injury list, with Noah Okafor the only confirmed absentee. The attacker is expected to miss another week or two due to a hamstring issue.
Sunderland, however, have six players ruled out. Jocelyn Ta Bi, Nordi Mukiele, Brian Brobbey, Romaine Mundle, Reinildo, and Dennis Cirkin are all unavailable.
Wolves v Liverpool
Wolves welcome back Ladislav Krejčí from suspension after he missed the win over Aston Villa due to a red card. Hwang Hee-chan is also expected to return to the matchday squad after resuming training.
For Liverpool, Florian Wirtz is unlikely to be ready as he continues recovering from a lower back injury.
However, long-term absentee Alexander Isak has resumed light running, signalling positive progress in his rehabilitation.
Wednesday
Aston Villa v Chelsea
Aston Villa remain without five injured players as they prepare to host Chelsea.
Unai Emery’s side have struggled for consistency and would have welcomed the return of key figures such as John McGinn or Youri Tielemans.
Chelsea will have Wesley Fofana available again after he served his suspension against Arsenal. The French defender is expected to return to the starting lineup.
The Blues’ other injured players are not expected back this week.
Brighton v Arsenal
Yasin Ayari remains a doubt for Brighton after missing last weekend’s match with a shoulder injury. He is still being assessed.
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard is expected to miss out again due to a knee issue after sitting out the London derby win over Chelsea. Ben White, however, is likely to return after missing the last match.
Fulham v West Ham
Fulham secured an impressive London derby victory over Tottenham to climb to the top of the table. However, Kevin Mbabu is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury requiring surgery.
Joachim Andersen is a doubt due to illness, while Saša Lukić is also being assessed.
For West Ham, Pablo Fornals has returned to training but is not yet ready for selection. Freddie Potts is suspended following a red card.
Man City v Nottingham Forest
The biggest shock for many managers last weekend was Erling Haaland’s absence from Manchester City’s matchday squad.
Pep Guardiola offered no clear update post-match, leaving his availability for this midweek clash uncertain. Nico O’Reilly also picked up an injury against Fulham and is a major doubt.
Nottingham Forest extended their winless run to five matches following a 2–1 defeat to Brighton.
Defensive lapses have been a recurring issue. Chris Wood is nearing a return to training but remains weeks away, while goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is a doubt with a suspected calf injury.
Newcastle v Man United
Jacob Ramsey is a doubt for Newcastle ahead of their clash with an in-form Manchester United side currently sitting third after winning six of their last seven matches.
Tino Livramento is close to returning but is still at least a week away from making the squad.
Manchester United’s season has been revitalised following the departure of Ruben Amorim and the arrival of Michael Carrick.
Another victory here would help the Red Devils create further distance from the chasing pack in the race for Champions League qualification.
Thursday
Spurs v Crystal Palace
A fourth consecutive defeat has left Tottenham dangerously close to the relegation zone. The North London side are now just four points clear of 17th-placed West Ham and appear low on confidence.
Spurs continue to manage the longest injury list in the league, with most absentees long-term. Djed Spence is the only new doubt due to a calf injury.
Crystal Palace will be without key defender Maxence Lacroix after his red card against Manchester United. Lacroix had initially scored in that match but was later sent off after conceding a penalty.
