It was a total week of chaos in combat sports this week, and a lot of that chaos came out of Duel: Arena 1 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida.
There was a main event switcheroo that saw Mike Perry go from fighting Dillon Danis to Brandon Jenkins. Jenkins would take an upset win after Perry dislocated his shoulder halfway through the first round.
Further down the card, controversial influencer Paul Miller (better known as Gypsy Crusader) beat Ben “King” Azoulay via split decision in a kickboxing
bout. It was a heavily pro-Gypsy Crusader crowd, and that crowd was very rowdy following the fight.
Video from the event shows UFC fighter Sedriques Dumas — better known for his crimes outside the cage than his fights with the promotion — getting into a scrap with a Gypsy Crusader fan dressed as the Joker. It was a surreal moment. A brawl would break out and continue backstage.
Dumas better hope that this fight doesn’t get him in trouble with his parole officer. Dumas has been pulled off cards in the past because he couldn’t get permission to remove his ankle monitor and cross state lines. He has a fight against Mickey Gall set for the end of September in Las Vegas, and now that could be in jeopardy due to this incident. Not like it would be a big loss to the card. Dumas is 1-4-1 over his last six fights, and it’s a real question as to why he’s still on the UFC roster.
We’ll keep you updated on the fallout from this brawl.
