The NFL has suspended L.A. Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson for two games after he was shown throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb following Monday night’s overtime loss, according to multiple reports. The Rams have listed David Quessenberry as Jackson’s backup, which puts him in line to start against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders.
Jackson would be eligible to be reinstated in Week 8 against the L.A. Chargers.
The NFL did not suspend Jackson prior to the season after he was accused and arrested for a domestic violence incident, reportedly the third such accusation during his career.
An undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2021, Jackson has been a pleasant surprise for the Rams on the field during games. PFF ranks him as the 12th-best tackle this season. He earned a three-year contract extension with the team but his personal life has been controversial to say the least, and now his temper has been caught on camera.
The 36-year-old Quessenberry has not started a game since 2023 with the Vikings. The Rams did re-sign him after last season and kept him on the roster, so they feel comfortable with him as an option. Rookie third round pick Keagen Trost had his 21-day window to be activated opened last week, meaning he could return at any time.
However, it would be surprising if he was activated and then starting at left tackle for the Rams. But stranger things have happened.
