The narrative is ugly, out there in the blogosphere. But the same people writing elegies are the ones who were boosters six weeks ago, and there are only so many roads a man can walk on. I’m not gonna say the Cubs are back but it’s beginning to look like it.
The Cubs sent Colin Rea to the hill to oppose Brewer phenom Jacob Misiorowski. Michael Busch had a real nice plate appearance with the bearstack [VIDEO] and Rea pitched well enough to leave with a lead. Seiya Suzuki is showing signs of coming
out of his funk, making good contact and stealing a base (his fourth).
Matt Shaw provided some insurance from his customary 9-spot in the bottom of the eighth. [VIDEO]. This was after his slick stop at third [VIDEO]. Kid can play.
Daniel Palencia came in to close things out and threw a lot of bad cheese. It ended well though, and the insurance held up. If two out of three is meatloaf, three out of five is a steak. Another win would be perfectly good, please and thank you.
