The last time Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk took questions from the media was after Jeffery Simmons was drafted. Things were better for the Titans back then, and Simmons had an off-the-field issue while at Mississippi State. It was important for her to get in front of the media and endorse the pick and the player.
Today, after the Titans traded Simmons to the Chicago Bears for two first-round picks, Adams Strunk released the following statement:
There is no doubt that Simmons made a huge impact in the Nashville community. He will be missed there just as much as he will be missed on the field. That’s the piece of trades like this that don’t get talked about nearly as much as they should.
Now, the Titans will turn their attention to finding the next group of players that are great on and off the field. The Titans got a haul for Simmons, but that doesn’t matter if Mike Borgonzi (or whoever the GM is making the picks) doesn’t get good players.
