Ferran Torres made his 50th international appearance for Spain on Saturday as La Roja beat Georgia 2-0 in World Cup qualifying.
The Barcelona star could have capped a memorable night with a goal but saw
a penalty saved by goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. However, goals from Yeremy Pino and Mikel Oyarzabal meant it was still a good night for Barca’s Shark.
Spain made sure to make a fuss of Ferran the day afterwards. He was presented with a special shirt to commemorate his half-century and received a round of applause from his team-mates as well.
Ferran’s also posted on his Instagram page to show off his special jersey. The post reads: “50 games and counting. It’s been a winning journey — with important goals, challenges overcome, and a European champion title. Always hungry for more.”
Torres will aim to feature again when Spain face Bulgaria next. The Barcelona star just needs one more goal to enter the top 10 goal scorers for the Spanish national team.
The Barcelona star has 22 goals in 50 matches but one more will see him match Alfredo di Stefano and Sergio Ramos on 23 goals for the country.
