I know we could use some good news. Did you know volleyball beat #5 Florida? They did! Did you know bowling season starts Friday, and they’re ranked #2 in the country? They are!
Unfortunately, now on to this.
Blaze Berlowitz came in to play QB during garbage time last Saturday, after the Ole Miss game was well out of hand. I had admittedly turned it off by then, as I suspect most of us did, since no one mentioned him in the gamethread at all.
He led a late TD drive, and as it turns out, did it after
taking a big shot from an Ole Miss defender that broke his collarbone.
Blaze’s mother left a Facebook post announcing the injury, and saying he’d be in surgery today. Credit to Joey Dwyer at SI for being the one to notice. I legitimately don’t have anything worthwhile to add, so I’ll encourage you to click the link below and read his article instead.
SI: Vanderbilt Quarterback Blaze Berlowitz To Undergo Surgery, Miss Time
This is of course all kinds of terrible, and we all hope recovery goes well for him. Nobody wants his senior season to end like that.
Vanderbilt hosts Arkansas Saturday at 6 PM CT on ESPN2 for Homecoming weekend.
