Barcelona have confirmed Lamine Yamal sustained a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo and will miss the rest of the season with his club side but should be available for the World Cup with Spain.
The teenager suffered the injury while scoring a penalty for the Catalan giants in a 1-0 win that restored their nine-point lead at the top of the table.
Yamal had to be substituted straight after scoring the goal and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.
Barcelona have issued the following
statement after Yamal underwent tests to determine the severity of the injury.
“The tests carried out have confirmed that first-team player Lamine Yamal has a hamstring injury in his left leg (biceps femoris muscle). The player will follow a conservative treatment plan. Lamine Yamal will miss the remainder of the season, and he is expected to be available for the World Cup.”
Barcelona still have six games left to play in La Liga. Next up is a trip to Getafe followed by another away match at Osasuan. Barca then host Real Madrid in El Clasico before finishing off with games against Alaves, Real Betis and Valencia.
