Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich expressed gratitude to the club and his well-wishers who stood by his side after his father passed away recently.
“I have to say that the support I’ve received from the club, the people who stood by me, and the DFB, as well as everyone who attended the funeral, was incredibly special for me personally and for my family. It showed me that I’m absolutely in the right place here,” said Kimmich after the game against Borussia Dortmund (as cpatured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kimmich returned to the pitch against Dortmund for the first time since his father’s passing. Naturally, the 31-year-old got emotional talking about a delicate event that every person goes through in life.
Donning the armband due to captain Manuel Neuer’s injury, Kimmich had to shoulder the responsibility of leading his side in the high-stakes fixture against their arch-rivals. The CDM was the heartbeat of his team with 103 touches and three created chances.
