Sacha Boey’s absence from Bayern Munich’s official team photo has raised plenty of questions, particularly with the transfer window still open and the defender’s future at the club appearing increasingly uncertain.
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl addressed the situation directly, making it clear that the club’s position on Boey has already been communicated to the player.
“With Sacha, we clearly communicated what the plan is. We would like to offload him, but what happens between now
and September 1st remains to be seen,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The message is difficult to misinterpret. Bayern Munich would like to find a new club for Boey before the transfer window closes, but Eberl stopped short of saying that a departure is guaranteed.
Boey joined Bayern Munich from Galatasaray in January 2024, but his time in Bavaria has been disrupted by injuries and inconsistent playing time. Despite showing flashes of his ability, the French right-back has struggled to establish himself as a regular part of Vincent Kompany’s plans.
His omission from the team photo adds another indication that Bayern Munich are preparing for the possibility of life without him.
With September 1st approaching, the coming days could be crucial for Boey. Bayern Munich will presumably listen to offers while Boey faces a decision over whether to pursue an opportunity elsewhere or remain at the club and fight for his place.
