The Buffalo Bills lead the Kansas City Chiefs 21-13 at halftime in a game that’s felt completely one-sided despite the one-score difference. The Bills marched down the field with a methodical seven-minute
touchdown on the opening possession. Back in the day, no team would have dared give Josh Allen the chance to take an early lead in such a way that they’d then be able to control the clock and limit possessions.
Buffalo had allowed Kansas City to answer their opening bell score with 10 unanswered points, but the Chiefs just couldn’t keep the Bills out of the end zone. Three touchdowns have given Buffalo a lead over a Chiefs team that’s trailed at the half just one other game this season.
There are plenty of highlights and studs to point out, but safety Cole Bishop deserves some respect for a trio of huge plays in the first half. His play stopped a would-be fourth-down conversion, then just before the half, his huge hit on Kelce meant KC had to settle for three.
Buffalo’s defense has been on a tear, picking up right where it left off in Week 8. It might be time to admit that the Bills needed Jordan Poyer all along, if for nothing else than his incredible on-field communication. But Poyer’s holding his own, containing a long pass to Rashee Rice rather than letting him get behind the defensive backfield.
How about Jame Cook III? A scary report by Tracey Wolfson had Bills Mafia concerned Cook might be sidelined, but he appear okay and he’s once again putting a hurt on an NFL defense. Cook is going to be a problem for every team the Bills face.
Here’s your open thread for the remainder of Bills-Chiefs in Week 9. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
