The NFL gets week 8 underway this evening on Thursday Night Football, with this week’s game matching up a pair of playoff teams from a year ago. The Chargers and Vikings both finished second in their respective
divisions last season but lost in the first round of the postseason and are looking for more in 2025.
The Vikings moved on from their quarterback, however, and have struggled to put together any continuity this season. Second-year pro J.J. McCarthy remains on the rehab track from an injury suffered a few weeks ago, with Carson Wentz backing up and starting in his place recently. Meanwhile, the Chargers have dropped three of four games after jumping out to a 3-0 start, and now sit a game back of the Broncos in the AFC West.
