Craig Hope has reported in the Daily Mail’s Newcastle Confidential that Eddie Howe is not under pressure at Newcastle United, even with the club sitting 14th in the Premier League and coming off consecutive
defeats.
Answering a reader question about Howe’s job security, Hope wrote: “No, and nor should he be.”
Hope added that Howe “has to find a way out of the current away-day malaise that threatens to undermine the season,” but stressed that the club’s leadership remains supportive.
Hope cited internal understanding that “the summer was far from ideal preparation (on and off the pitch) and maybe we’re seeing the hangover of that now.”
The insider noted that Howe does not want those circumstances used as an excuse, and that “it’s on him and his players to respond to those back-to-back league defeats at West Ham and Brentford this weekend.”
Hope emphasised that Howe’s position is not in doubt, writing: “Eddie Howe’s job is not under threat and nor should it be – but he has to find a way out of the current away-day malaise.”
