The second night of the NFL Draft begins with the Jets owning the 44th overall pick. It is the only selection the Jets have in rounds two and three.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini provides a list of players who could interest the Jets in round two.
The strength of the second round
appears to be at the cornerback position. That is a spot where the Jets could use some help. It wouldn’t be surprising to see an early run on corners, but one of the top prospects stands a good chance of falling to 44.
Here is where our colleagues at SBNation.com rank these players among the top available prospects after round one.
Jermod McCoy: Top remaining player
Avieon Terrell: 3rd best player
Colton Hood: 6th best player
CJ Allen: 9th best player
Jacob Rodriguez: 10th best player
Brandon Cisse: 16th best player
D’Angelo Ponds 24th best player
AJ Haulcy: 25th best player
Treydan Stukes: 26th best player
Carson Beck: 54th best player
I’m not entirely sure why Beck is appearing on a list of Jets options for day two. Picking him in the second or third round would be a truly ludicrous decision. Needless to say I’m not expecting to hear his name called by the Jets.
A number of the other players should be on the board when the Jets are up or even on a trade down. At least one of them will likely join the three new members of the team.
