With the reveal of a bracket for AEW’s Women’s Tag Title Tournament set for later on the Oct. 22 Dynamite, four teams fought for the right to pick their first round opponent.
The match between Megan Bayne
& Penelope Ford, Jamie Hayter & Queen Aminata, Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale, and Skye Blue & Julia Hart ended when Hayter used a blind tag to send Nightingale to the outside after Willow Pounce-d Bayne to the floor. Jamie and her tag partner Aminata then won it with a headbutt/Hayterade combo.
They then announced that they want to end things with Hart & Skye, aka Sister of Sin (2/3 of Triangle of Madness), in round one.
Later — after Mercedes Moné and Athena decided to team up and get their names in at the last minute — we got the rest of the field, all the first round match-ups, and a look at the possible semi-finals and finals of the tournament. It kicks off next week.
The first round matches are:
- Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter vs. Sisters Of Sin (Julia Hart and Skye Blue)
- Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron vs. Athena and Mercedes Moné
- Alex Windsor and Riho vs. Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa
- TayJay (Anna Jay and Tay Melo) vs. Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford
Before the night was done, Shirakawa was getting booked in a match for Collision when she revealed the name of team with friend-with-benefits Storm… The Timeless Love Bombs!
