At the time of writing this article, we still do not know if we will see Caleb Wilson this weekend against Duke. Hubert Davis said that Wilson would be doing a little more during practice yesterday, but he didn’t really specify how much. He seems to be optimistic that his star is close to returning, but returning against the Blue Devils is starting to seem a bit shaky now that it is already Friday and he hasn’t participated in 5-on-5 practice yet.
UNC fans have been fairly understanding of the situation
at hand. Without Wilson, the team was bound to lose some games that they would’ve won otherwise, but the funny thing is that they won all of them except one. And in the one game that they lost, what upset fans the most about the NC State game was effort and execution, not the fact that they lost in general.
But that of course begs the question: what outcome will fans accept this weekend? Given the fact that UNC has already beaten Duke, it’ll be in Cameron Indoor, the double-bye in the ACC Tournament is secure, and there’s a chance that Wilson will not play, would fans be okay with a loss? Or is pride in the rivalry so important that winning is the only option? We would love to hear all your thoughts regarding the matter. There’s legitimate reason to want a win no matter what, but being “okay” with a loss is also reasonable, especially since it seems like these two teams are on a path to face each other a third time in the ACC Tournament anyway.
As always, let us know how you’re feeling in the comments below. But let’s be clear: no matter what the answer is, it’s still Go to Hell Duke. All day every day.
