Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Final NFL offseason moves for 32 teams: Trades, signings, more – ESPN Extend defensive lineman Moro Ojomo. Ojomo, a 2023 seventh-round pick, stepped in when Milton Williams left Philadelphia and had a very good season in 2025. Ojomo ranked 11th among qualifying interior linemen with a 10% pass rush win rate and had six sacks and 38 total tackles. He’s versatile enough to line up at end or tackle (or, in Philadelphia, as a 5-technique end), and it would
be good for the Eagles to extend his rookie contract to maintain consistency on their defensive line in case they can’t come to an extension agreement with Jalen Carter next offseason.
NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles “nuclear hot” for Maxx Crosby? – BGN
But I tend to think the Eagles are satisfied with their edge rusher situation right now. They paid not an insignificant price to trade for Jonathan Greenard … before then extending his contract on a deal worth $30 million per year. The team is bullish on Jalyx Hunt, who could reasonably make another big leap in his development. Nolan Smith’s long-term future is less than certain but the Eagles did pick up his fifth-year option for 2027. The Eagles paid real money to Arnold Ebiketie in free agency and they recently added A.J. Epenesa to the mix as well.
A.J. Brown’s top 10 moments with the Eagles – PhillyVoice
4) 2022: Brown emasculates Steelers defensive backs. During a game against the Steelers that got the Eagles out to a 7-0 record, Brown had 5 catches for 113 yards and 3 TDs in the first half. He finished with 6 catches for 156 yards. On touchdown No. 3, Brown absorbed a hit after his catch that didn’t faze him at all, and then he pointed at the two Steelers he beat on the play, as if to say, “I got you, and you.” That moment is probably the one that stands out to me as Brown at his dominant best.
My Favorite Games – The 90’s – Iggles Blitz
1991 – PHI 13, HOU 6. The House of Pain Game. Buddy Ryan was no longer coaching the Eagles, but the defense didn’t get worse. It got better under new DC Bud Carson. He was able to keep Buddy’s aggression while mixing in some new ideas. Seth Joyner had a breakout season, highlighted by his performance in this game. He was the best LB in the league in ’91. Houston ran an offense called the Run ‘n Shoot. You might think of it like the Air Raid offense you see in colleges these days. It featured 4 WRs and a RB, but no TE. The Oilers, led by star QB Warren Moon, had an explosive offense that finished the season 4th in points and 2nd in yards. The Eagles held them to just 6 points and 247 yards, both season lows. Carson put together a brilliant gameplan and his players executed it to perfection. The Oilers loved throwing the ball down the field on intermediate routes. This worked great unless you had guys like Andre Waters and Wes Hopkins to punish the receivers. And that’s just what they did. The hits would get them kicked out of the league these days, but that was a different era. Those hits made the receivers nervous about crossing the middle. Combining that with a fierce pass rush and Joyner’s big plays and you had team defense at its best.
Will Eagles’ defense reach new levels in Year 3 with Vic Fangio? – NBCSP
As soon as Fangio became available in the 2024 offseason, the Eagles pounced and then Fangio had them in the Super Bowl that same season. It’s a little unclear why Fangio’s methods and demeanor have played better with the Eagles. But Baun has a theory: This is a young defense and so many of these players came from major programs like Georgia, where tough coaching is the norm. So Baun thinks it’s more natural for this group to thrive with Fangio. The results speak for themselves. In 2024, the Eagles were No. 1 in overall defense and No. 2 in points. After losing several key players, there was a fear that Fangio’s group would regress. In 2025, the Eagles were 13th in yards and 5th in points. But Fangio’s defense was dominant when it mattered and despite a few hiccups was elite again. “In some ways, I thought we were very good, had some very, very good games,” Fangio said looking back at Year 2. “And there’s the narrative out there that if the offense could have been better, we would have had a more successful season, but we could have played better too on defense in certain games and we need to take that mindset moving forward.”
NFL bloodlines and blueprints: Fathers and sons who play in league share special bond – The Athletic
All-Pro middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter placed one of his massive hands on the belly of his expectant wife and breathed a prayer. “God,” said Trotter, the heart and soul of the Philadelphia Eagles defense for much of the late 1990s and 2000s, “make my boy big, strong, fast, a little bit crazy — because to play linebacker, or play football period, you’ve got to be a little bit tough-minded at least. “And God,” Trotter added, “whatever you gave me, give him double.” Trotter repeated the prayer all the way up to Jeremiah Jr.’s birth on Christmas Eve of 2002. He resumed the ritual three years later while awaiting the birth of a second son, Josiah, in April 2005. When each of his sons turned 5, Trotter introduced them to football. “They had no choice,” Trotter, now 49, recalled. “They were playing football. At least until they left high school. Then they could make their own decisions.”
Why the Copycat Sean McVay Offenses Can Never Keep Up With the Original – SI
This, on top of the growing mastery of the basic Shanahan and McVay book of spells (now able to be studied Year 1 at Hogwarts), would seem to foreshadow another year of defensive dominance, or at least another year where league-wide numbers are down from the highwater marks of the modern offensive revolution era, which took place in 2019 and ’20. While the NFL isn’t losing sleep over a league that is collectively gaining about 30 fewer yards per game than it was five years ago—despite having literally every mechanism in the rule book designed to aid offensive football—I’m hoping that NFL offenses are. If your strategy is to simply copy off the smartest kids in class, you’re in for a rude awakening in 2026. Or, at the very least, you’ll feel a bit more like Dorothy, whose Microsoft Copilot search just accidentally recommended Fifty Shades of Grey to a fellow octogenarian from her church group based on a Copilot query for “love stories.”
Cowboys placing OL Matt Hennessy on season-ending injured reserve – Blogging The Boys
Hennessy was signed by the Cowboys back in the early days of free agency and offered depth along the offensive line. Unfortunately his recent neck surgery complicated matters and the team seemingly feels that injured reserve is the best decision at this point in time. [BLG Note: Former Eagles offensive lineman and Temple alumnus.]
Commanders News: Did Jayden Daniels hint at summer practice with Aiyuk? – Hogs Haven
For Daniels, the chance to build chemistry with the rest of the room remains prevalent over the next two months as Daniels noted he and the receivers will “get a little trip” possibly back in California as they did earlier this offseason. Could any non-Commanders, like Brandon Aiyuk, also join him? “We’ll see. You guys will probably see on social media or something.”
Stefon Diggs to Commanders? Free-agent WR open to playing for hometown team: ‘Not ruling it out’ – NFL.com
In a recent interview with FOX 5, Diggs was asked about the possibility of returning to the area where he grew up and attended college. “I never realized how many fans [there] was back home until I was a free agent and people are like, ‘Are you going to come back home?’ Especially when they see me back [here],” Diggs said. “I’ve been living here for my whole life. I’ve been living here for 10 years. They was just like, ‘Oh, we never see you.’ I was like, man, y’all wasn’t looking. “It’s a lot of hopes. We’re kind of figuring out, working through some things. I did have a small piece of me like, damn, it would be great to come home and play and play in front of the fans I used to play in front of as a young adolescent in college and just kind of doing something for the city. That definitely would be a moment. Hopefully, things do work out. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m kind of open right now.”
Can the NY Giants be the 2026 Patriots? Best- and worst-case scenarios – Big Blue View
It is possible for the Giants to have a Patriots-like turnaround, but no one should expect it or consider it likely. What the Patriots did remains an outlier.
