Former Tottenham Hotspur Women player Kerys Harrop will be inducted into the Barclays Women’s Super League Hall of Fame in 2026.
Kerys is a real legend of the game with 183 appearances over 12 years in the WSL, 43 of which came in her three seasons at Spurs. She was briefly the most-capped WSL player toward the end of her career. Most of her appearances came for Birmingham City, her childhood club, which she also captained.
I loved watching Kerys play at left back for us. She was never the fastest
player, but her smarts and experience and odd ability to connect with the ball often saw her get the better of the attackers she was facing. I’ll always remember her for the headed goal she scored against Chelsea (a clever free kick taken by Kyah Simon, I believe – I wish I could find the footage, it was so fun. But alas, all I have is my own match recap from three years ago, which definitely isn’t making me aware of the unrelenting passage of time).
She did slow down a bit towards the end of her time at Spurs, and when she left the club to retire, you couldn’t really argue it wasn’t time. Unfortunately, nobody’s shown as much personality and verve at left back since Kerys left (except for maybe Ash Neville when she was played out of position there).
