We still don’t have a timeline for the return of Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph as he continues to rehab from a serious knee injury, but the positive signs continue to accumulate. On Tuesday, Lions coach Dan Campbell said he still expects Joseph to play at some point this season, and hours later, the All-Pro safety went to social media to provide even more optimism.
Joseph has been relatively quiet over the past couple of months, but on Tuesday night, he posted a compilation of his workouts at the Lions’
indoor practice field, asking viewers “which break was my best.”
The video shows Joseph running at near full speed and making quick change-of-direction cuts on both legs. And toward the end of the video, he hints at a comeback in the near future with the following caption:
“Dis shii onna way man”
Here’s the video:
If that isn’t enough, Campbell provided more optimism regarding Joseph’s progress when asked by local radio why he believes the Lions safety will play again this year.
“The progression of where he’s come right now in his rehab, the strength that the knee is gaining,” Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket on Wednesday. “We’re working here. I don’t want to give a timeline, but I do feel optimistic that before the season’s out he’ll play for us.”
And don’t forget that Lions safety Brian Branch, who will return to action this week, was also very optimistic about Joseph’s eventual return.
But Campbell finished his answer with one of those moments in which you can never tell if he’s being even a little serious or not.
“And, look, I hope I’m not wrong, but maybe I am, and then you can call me a liar. But I like where he’s trending.”
