Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has praised Ronald Araujo following his strong start to the season on loan at Anfield from Barcelona.
Araujo has already made seven appearances for his new club and has settled in well with Andoni Iraola’s side.
Van Dijk says he’s done a good job at right-back and is hoping he can kick on and continue to impress for the rest of the campaign.
“He is a great player. I don’t think he was the captain of Barcelona for no reason,” he told Sky Sports.
“He is a fantastic player.
He is not a natural right-back, but he has filled in the best way possible, and I am pleased for him. It has been an intense couple of weeks for him.
“So hopefully now in this international break, he can get a little bit of rest before the chaos will start when we come back. It is down to the whole team, but obviously he did very well so far.”
Iraola has also said the transfer has helped Araujo find his form again after struggling for game time at Barca under Hansi Flick.
