We have reached a magical time during the holiday season, with Chanukah and the winter solstice now in the rearview mirror and Christmas just ahead.
The spirit of the season has permeated throughout the population
in the form of holiday cheer, festive decorations and, of course, music. That last item will be the focus of our current open thread here at Bless You Boys.
So the question is, “What is your favorite holiday song?” There is a broad set of choices, ranging from classical hymnals to big band classics to modern/contemporary hits — and they are not limited to just Christmas songs either.
For me personally, even being Jewish, those big band era tunes are my jibe — maybe it is because many of them were composed and performed by my fellow Hebrews. In fact, my choice for this discussion was co-written by Sammy Cahn, a little ditty called “Let it Snow,” in this case performed by Old Blue Eyes himself.
Is it ironic for a fifth-generation native Floridian to enjoy a song about snow? Absolutely. But the tune slaps and that is that.
So, fellow Tigers fans, what is your pick for your favorite holiday song? Let us know in the comments below, and don’t forget that you can embed a video with your song as well.
