Jürgen Klopp is taking a slightly different approach with three of Germany’s players during the upcoming international break, and Bayern Munich supporters will be paying particularly close attention to two of them.
Klopp confirmed that Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala, along with Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, will remain with the Germany squad for the entire two-week period. Rather than simply bringing the players into camp for the usual international fixtures, Klopp wants to use the time
to keep them training consistently and carefully build their rhythm.
Explaining the decision, Klopp detailed his strategy.
“There are a few players – three to be precise – Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry, all of whom we want to keep with us for the full two weeks. Why? To keep them in rhythm, to keep them in regular training, something clubs don’t offer for a few days during the international break. We want to give them the opportunity to potentially play in different matches, always in a measured way and tailored to their specific situations,” said Klopp (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For Bayern Munich, Musiala, and Gnabry being involved for the full break could be particularly significant. Both players have had their recent periods of limited availability, making regular training, and controlled match minutes an important part of their respective returns to full rhythm.
Klopp also stressed that the plan will be tailored to each player’s situation. That means Germany is not necessarily planning to throw the trio into every available minute simply because they are staying in camp.
Instead, the goal appears to be controlled progression. For Bayern Munich, that could ultimately be a positive development, provided the players return to Munich healthy and with valuable minutes under their belts.
