The Steelers made a number of roster moves ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, highlighted by rookie offensive guard Gennings Dunker landing on injured reserve.
According to insider Tom Pelissero, Dunker is expected to miss four to six weeks on IR with an MCL sprain. The third-round rookie first appeared on Pittsburgh’s injury report on Thursday with a knee designation.
The Steelers announced the signing of running back Travis Homer to the 53-man roster to fill Dunker’s spot,
opening up a slot on the Steelers’ practice squad.
Also ahead of the Bengals game, the Steelers have temporarily elevated running back Lew Nichols and defensive back Doneiko Slaughter from the practice squad to the active/inactive roster. Both will revert back to the practice squad following the game.
This marks Slaughter’s third elevation this season. He cannot be elevated again after Week 3 unless he is signed to the Steelers’ 53-man roster.
The Steelers’ additions of running backs and a defensive back reflect Rico Dowdle being out for Sunday’s matchup, and both Jaylen Warren and Joey Porter Jr. being questionable. Porter is not expected to play versus Cincinnati.
