Shaedon Sharpe became the youngest Portland Trail Blazers player to make 1,000 field goals against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.
Sharpe snared the record with his second field goal at Crypto Arena — an emphatic, one-handed dunk.
The 22-year-old, who celebrates his next birthday in May, has averaged 5.3 field goal makes per game after being selected with the seventh pick in 2022. Last week, Sharpe signed a four-year, $90 million rookie extension to remain with the Blazers through 2030.
While inefficient, Sharpe contributed in the Blazers’ 122 – 108 win against the Lakers, hitting 16 points on 6 of 16 from the field and 0 of 6 from three. That production added to his 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 5 turnovers. He finished the game +21 in 29 minutes.
Sharpe, with Jerami Grant, are the two longest-serving Blazers on the roster, which has been overhauled by General Manager Joe Cronin since he took charge in late 2021.
