Although a rumored WrestleMania 42 appearance didn’t materialize, Tom Brady might still have a future in WWE, according to his former teammate Rob Gronkowski.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Gronk said the former quarterback could step in a WWE ring to mix it up with Logan Paul.
“It makes sense because Tom and Logan Paul have been beefing for about two to three months now,” Gronkoswki, who played with Brady on the New England Patriots and later the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, told the Daily Mail
in an exclusive interview.
Brady and Paul both recently participated in a flag football game in Los Angeles, and a heated argument on the field between the two men nearly became physical before referees intervened.
“I thought they were going to fight at the flag football game, but it just didn’t come to that situation, which is good. We didn’t need any fights on that flag football field,” Gronk said in the interview conducted before night two of WrestleMania 42.
He continued, “It’s a friendly game, it’s a family game but I thought they would take it out here at WrestleMania, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s here, but I don’t know if he is or not.”
When asked how he thinks Brady would do in WWE, Gronk responded: “I think he would do great.”
“I don’t think he’d be like a full-time wrestler and actually have a match,” he added. “I think he would have like a little cameo, kind of like Jelly Roll last night, how he dropped Pat McAfee through the announcing table, which was epic. That was fun.”
After calling night one of WrestleMania 42 a “blast,” the former tight end returned to his thoughts of Brady working in WWE.
“I would say a little cameo like that for Tom, where he jumps off top rope and like elbows somebody and like takes their hat and throws it like a football,” Gronkowski said.
Talk of Brady appearing in WWE began soon after he appeared on Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, in February. During the interview, Brady disparaged the toughness of wrestlers in comparison to NFL players. The football legend said that while he loves the WWE, he found the company’s work “cute.”
Brady then doubled down on this opinion when speaking with a Sports Illustrated reporter.
“You know, all their stuff is so cute and scripted, and they know what’s going on,” Brady told the reporter in a clip posted on Sports Illustrated’s X (Twitter) account. “In a football game, you don’t know, so they wouldn’t get near me. Plus, if I had a good offensive line, they’ll punch those guys right in the throat and they’d be probably crying.”
He added: “There’s no fake BS we do in American football. For those guys, it would be a whole different story for them.”
Brady’s comments drew heated responses from several WWE stars, including CM Punk, Paul Heyman, Oba Femi, Liv Morgan, and Randy Orton.
Charlotte Flair responded to the Sports Illustrated video by writing on X: “A lot of words to say ‘if I had five guys to protect me, I might be ok’.”
During this back-and-forth between Brady and WWE stars, veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Brady and WWE were in negotiations for a WrestleMania appearance.
The Daily Mail asked Gronkowski about Brady’s “cute” comment, which he attributed to Brady just talking trash.
“Tom is just becoming a professional trash-talker now,” Gronk said. “I respect everything that the WWE wrestlers do, the hard work that goes in. I’m sure Tom does, too.”
What do you think, Cagesiders? Will we ever see Brady in a WWE ring? Or better yet, do you even want to see Brady in WWE? Let us know in the comments.
