Bouna Sarr’s signing was one of the most lampooned transactions in the club’s history.
Signed during a rushed, COVID-19 induced late summer transfer window on a whim, Sarr never had a role at the club, but was able to get paid €7,600,000 (per Capology) in four seasons with the Bavarians.
That might seem like a bargain, until you factor in that he played just 1,293 minutes across 33 games in those four seasons. That breaks down to:
- €5,877 per minute on the pitch.
- €230,303 per game.
- €1,900,000 per assist.
- €7,600,000 per goal.
What marked Sarr’s signing at Bayern Munich was not his lack of production
or even his lack of minutes, it is that he was just content to hang out, do some training, work out, and watch the games. It is an awesome gig if you can get it, but rather than aiming to get on the pitch elsewhere, Sarr embraced his role as passenger at Bayern Munich.
Anyway, Sarr has re-emerged with FC Metz in a string of X posts:
“I can’t wait to reconnect with the supporters at Saint-Symphorien”
Sarr came on to the professional scene with FC Metz in the 2014/15 season and will get a chance to relive his glory days in France. Sarr had been without a club since leaving Bayern Munich in 2024.
