The Miami Hurricanes 2025 season kicked off with a bang. The Canes faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday night and earned a hard fought 27-24 victory. That win in primetime on National TV on Labor Day Sunday Night was a feature showcase for the Canes program, and has The U on the minds of everyone across the CFB landscape.
After dispatching Notre Dame again, the sky is the limit for the Canes. Miami’s schedule continues with a game against Bethune Cookman on Saturday to keep things
going. While there is no line for that game — common for FBS vs FCS games — there are some odds that have improved after Miami’s opening win.
Our friends at FanDuel were among the most bullish on the Canes this season, and that continued after this game. All lines referenced (and more) can be found by clicking this link.
Regular Season Win Total
Before the season, Miami’s over/under for 2025 was 9.5 wins, with the under being the favorite at -154. This line has changed since it was debuted back in February, moving up a full game from the initial number of Over 8.5.
After the opening week win against Notre Dame, the line has moved a full game to over/under 10.5 wins. That movement of a full game is understandable; many people viewed the ND game as a sure loss/unwinnable game on the schedule in the summer. Now that Miami has the concrete result of beating last year’s National Championship runners-up, the prospects for a big regular season win total went up.
At the new O/U 10.5 number, the under is the favorite at -192, with the over getting +154 odds.
This is the 3rd O/U number associated with Miami. With each passing number — first 8.5, then 9.5, and now 10.5 — the outlook and prospects for the Canes this season continue to rise. Now, FanDuel’s number is indicating Miami going 10-2 (or worse) as the likely result from the season, a full game improvement from the outlook before Miami beat Notre Dame.
ACC Championship Game Winner
Miami is still the 2nd favorite to win the ACC Championship Game, but now with improved odds. Preseason +410 odds have turned into +300 odds at present. Clemson is still the favorite at +145, up from +120 before the year and their opening home loss to LSU.
The next closest teams behind Miami are Louisville at +950 (up from +750) and SMU at +1000 (up from +850). Georgia Tech (+1100) and the shock story of opening weekend, Florida State (+1200) have seen their odds improve to be part of the top group (though substantially behind Clemson and Miami up top).
Same as before the season, the minimum expectation is that Miami plays in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte on December 6th.
College Football Playoffs appearance
Like the other odds in this piece, the odds here have flipped, and now lists Miami as a short favorite TO MAKE the College Football Playoffs. It’s a binary proposition of course, with Yes being the favored option at -118, and No being the underdog line at -104.
Miami is still among the teams with the best odds to make the CFP. But nothing is certain, and as everyone has been saying, it’s incumbent upon Miami to go out and win games this season. That’s the path to the CFP, and hopefully the Canes are able to get there. And, as we all saw, they took a big step forward with the 27-24 win over Notre Dame on Sunday night.
National Championship
Yet another number that’s improved for Miami after beating Notre Dame.
Preseason, Miami was+4000 to win the National Championship, sharing the same odds with Ole Miss and Oklahoma.
Now, Miami is +2200 to win the National Championship, good for 10th best odds in the country.
Undefeated Regular Season
Preseason, Miami had the 7th best odds for an undefeated regular season, sitting at +950 heading into the season.
Now, Miami has the 4th best odds for an undefeated regular season, sitting at +500, just slightly behind Georgia at +470. The other teams ahead of them: Ohio State and Penn State, with Oregon and LSU just behind at +650.
Heisman Trophy Winner
The last item on the list is the biggest individual award in the world of College Football: The Heisman Trophy. Miami had a finalist last year, and if things hold true to form from the preseason odds, they very possibly could have one again this year.
Preseason, Miami starting QB Carson Beck was +1800 to win the Heisman Trophy. Those odds were tied for 4th best with South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers, Penn State QB Drew Allar, and Alabama QB Ty Simpson.
Now, Beck is up to +1100 to win, good for 3rd on the list. Ahead of him at this point are only LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier (+800) and South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers (+1000).
So there you have it. A plethora of updated odds to consider for the 2025 season. For the full list and more, be sure to check out our friends at FanDuel here.
