On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers will attempt to end their losing streak at two games. The team has scored just 20 points combined in losses to the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles,
and now on a short week they head to New Jersey to face the New York Giants with a chance to get back on track.
This Giants team is, in theory, a great matchup for the Packers to do just that. They boast the NFL’s worst rushing defense in nearly every efficiency metric, which makes for an ideal opportunity for Matt LaFleur to get his offense running smoothly again. Meanwhile, a quarterback change and a head coaching change have the Giants in a bit of disarray overall, and that leads to the Packers being favored on the road by a touchdown on Sunday.
These two teams look very different from how they did the last time they met, about two years ago. At that time, Xavier McKinney was a Giant and Jon Runyan, Jr. was a Packer — now they are each starters for the other team. Gone are both starting running backs from that game, A.J. Dillon and Saquon Barkley as well, who are now teammates with the Philadelphia Eagles.
On the injury front, Green Bay may get a few key players back today, particularly wide receiver Matthew Golden, who is expected to play after missing last week’s game. Tune in about 90 minutes before game time to see who will be active this afternoon.
