As John Cena gets ready for his retirement match on Dec. 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he says he wants to pave the road ahead for the future of WWE. With that in mind, Cena has visited the WWE Performance
Center multiple times over the last month, perhaps to get a closer look at what that future looks like.
NXT star (and current TNA Knockouts Champion) Kelani Jordan talked to Denise Salcedo about Cena’s recent visit to the PC. Here is the advice she picked up from the 17-time world champion.
“First of all, he is just so intellectual, and he’s incredible. He gave us so much insight. He honestly just kept reminding us that, hey, wrestling’s a journey. It’s not gonna always be the mountaintop. There’s gonna be times where you’re in the valleys. So, he just kept on reinforcing, ‘Believe in yourself. Dare to be different.’
He told me, ’cause I asked him a few questions, he’s like, just keep doing what you’re doing. Stay the course. Because, guess what? There’s gonna be times where sometimes on social media, people love you. Sometimes in the crowd, they love you. But sometimes they boo you, and that’s okay. He was a babyface for so long, and there [were] times where the crowd turned on him. But guess what? He’s still John Cena, and they’re still paying tickets to come see him. So he just kind of reminded us, there’s gonna be valleys, there’s gonna be hills, but just believe in yourself and keep at it, ’cause then you’re destined for greatness.”
Does that sound like useful advice that will actually help NXT stars achieve greatness in the future? Or did John just recite some of his favorite motivational tweets? Let me know what you think of Cena’s advice in the comments below, Cagesiders
