The Wisconsin Badgers hired a new general manager this offseason, promoting Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer Marcus Sedberry after Max Stienecker left for an executive position with
the USC Trojans.
Sedberry was a different hire than initially expected, as Wisconsin focused on filling a role with someone with more business experience, rather than a personnel-related hire like Stienecker, who was a recruiting ace for the Badgers.
USA Today released an article on Thursday, listing out the public salaries for general managers in college football, and Sedberry was ranked 25th of the 49 available salaries at $334,805.
That salary ranks eighth among Big Ten general managers behind Ohio State’s Mark Pantoni, Oregon’s Marshall Malchow, Nebraska’s Patrick Stewart, Iowa’s Tyler Barnes, Minnesota’s Gerrit Chernoff, Rutgers’s Kevin MacConnell, Michigan’s Sean Magee, and UCLA’s Khary Darlington.
There are six publicly available salaries for Big Ten general managers that rank behind Sedberry: Washington’s Matt Doherty, Michigan State’s Cole Moore, Illinois’s Patrick Embleton, Indiana’s Matt Wilson, Purdue’s Brandon Lee, and Maryland’s Merci Falaise.
There are only 49 available salaries, as a majority of the other college football programs are either private and don’t have to disclose or don’t have a hire at the position.
