Bayern Munich is making a serious push to sign highly rated youngster JJ Gabriel, but the club could face some stiff competition — and an even bigger financial hurdle — to get the deal done.
According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is competing with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain for Gabriel’s signature. The youngster’s representatives, Ali Barat and Marcello Brillmann, were already at Bayern Munich’s Säbener
Straße training complex on May 5th, with talks having taken place and further discussions planned.

Bayern have apparently gone beyond simply pitching Gabriel on the prestige of joining the club. The Bavarians have presented the youngster with a clear pathway to the first team, with the plan being for him to immediately become part of Vincent Kompany’s senior squad.
That is a significant selling point.
Kompany is reportedly a fan of Gabriel, and Bayern Munich believes the youngster has the ability to make an immediate breakthrough rather than spending years waiting for an opportunity with the reserves or youth teams. If Bayern Munich can convince Gabriel that he will actually have a meaningful role in the first team, that could give the club an important advantage over its European rivals.
The problem, however, appears to be money.
There is reportedly skepticism within Bayern Munich regarding the financial demands being made by Gabriel’s camp. The youngster is seeking a salary in the single-digit millions, along with what has been described as an “exorbitantly high” signing fee.
And Bayern Munich is not the only club willing to spend heavily.
With Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG also involved, Gabriel’s camp has plenty of leverage. Other interested clubs are reportedly prepared to put significant money on the table to secure his signature.
For Bayern Munich, then, this could come down to more than simply winning a transfer battle. The club has apparently laid out its sporting vision for Gabriel. Now, it will have to determine just how much that vision is worth financially.
