Dating back to the beginning of the spring we’ve tracked the Chicago Bears needing to bolster their defensive line by any means possible. So far this regular season, after minimal moves were made beforehand, that deficiency has been magnified considerably. A team pursuing their first Super Bowl championship in decades had to make a move.
Consider those deficiencies addressed.
Per Tom Pelissero, NFL Insider for the Ringer and Netflix, the Chicago Bears have agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans
that will send 4-time Pro Bowler and 2025 1st Team All-Pro Jeffery Simmons to the Monsters of the Midway. Initial reports say the trade includes two first-round picks plus a fourth-rounder heading to Tennessee.
Never mind the fact that arguably the NFL’s biggest pass-rushing menace amongst interior defensive linemen is now under Dennis Allen’s control up front. Jeffery Simmons is a dominant force in all phases of the game. This includes an unbelievable 76 combined tackles registered in 2024. So far in Simmons’ 2026 campaign he’s tallied 4.0 sacks and 13 QB pressures along with 38 combined tackles while playing in a similar 4-man front.
Currently, his pass rush production ties Austin Booker for the team lead in sacks and trumps everyone in pressures. The 6-4, 305-pound tackle in Jeffery Simmons, who produced a career-high 11 sacks and 21 QB pressures in 2025, projects as the perfect fit alongside Grady Jarrett to beef up their defensive interior. The draft capital and cap space being allocated for this move could not have been used for a better deal.
This is the type of rare mid-season trade Super Bowl contenders earmark and pursue to close the gap. You had best believe Ryan Poles is “all in” for 2026. LFG.
