Should the Los Angeles Rams make a move for Chris Godwin? The Rams have lost Davante Adams due to injury for an extended period of time and besides Puka Nacua, the receiver room for the Rams is a question mark. Could Godwin help stabilize the room?
Godwin is a veteran of the NFL, he’s won a Super Bowl, but he’s also had some serious injuries that have likely impacted his ability to play at his best. If the Rams could get a prime Godwin, then this trade would be beneficial, but a broken-down Godwin?
How much does that help the Rams?
So, L.A. will see in Week 7 if they have enough depth in their wide receiver and tight end group to make up for Adams going down, and if not, then the Rams may want to make a trade. Or if the Rams fall to 2-5, they may want to sell.
Variables aplenty. Trade rumors aplenty.
Rams Trade Pitch Lands $102 Million Super Bowl Champion (heavy.com)
“The Rams lost Davante Adams for six to 10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring. Godwin is among the slew of names floated as potential targets for the Rams before the trade deadline.
“I wonder if they call for Chris Godwin,” NFL analyst Trevor Sikkema posted on X on October 21. “Godwin’s now 30 and 2027 is a club option in his contract. He’s the ideal Rams receiver with how much he does as a blocker. If Tampa loses to Carolina this weekend I could see it.”
Why the Rams should trade for this Pro Bowl TE instead of a WR
“On Wednesday, Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta told “Pardon My Take” that he’s not thrilled about how the organization has treated his contract situation, and he’s OK if he hits free agency this coming offseason. His words sparked the idea that he could be on the trade block.
“It’s disappointing that you go out there every week and bear the risk of getting hurt,” said LaPorta. “Like last year, I broke my (expletive) back for the team. And then I’m going out there this year, and I’m balling, and maybe they’re just not showing the love.”
NFL trade rumors: 5 receivers the Rams should target in a deal, including Cowboys’ George Pickens (cbssports)
“The veteran receiver is expected to miss six to 10 weeks after rupturing his hamstring in the Rams’ Week 6 loss to the Cardinals. Under the best-case scenario, Adams isn’t expected to be back until December, which means the Rams now have a gaping hole at receiver.
According to ESPN, the Rams are planning to “at least explore the possibility of trading” for a receiver. If we know one thing about Rams general manager Les Snead, it’s that he loves to wheel and deal. He’s proven throughout his career that he’s not shy when it comes to pulling the trigger on a big trade, so it’s very possible we’ll see the Rams make some sort of deal before the NFL’s Nov. 10 trade deadline gets here.“
Rams should trade for 24-year-old WR after Davante Adams injury news (sports.yahoo)
“The injury to Adams is a massive blow to the Rams’ offense and could hurt their chances of going on a run and even reaching the playoffs.
Yet, due to the injury, Los Angeles could look to make a trade for another receiver ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, and there is one name that makes plenty of sense.
Rams should look to acquire Brian Thomas Jr.“
Raiders vs Rams predictions, picks, odds, score projections Sunday (azcentral)
“The Arizona Republic is predicting a 24-21 win for the Rams over the Raiders in the NFL Week 7 Sunday football game.
Jeremy Cluff writes: “The Raiders started the season 3-0. They are 0-3 since. Matthew Stafford and the Rams, the preseason Super Bowl favorites, have to win this game to avoid falling to an abysmal 2-5. They will.”
Rams vs. Raiders bold predictions for NFL Week 7 (sports.yahoo)
“”Stafford has zero scrambling passing yards on the season per NFL Next Gen Stats. He has yet to break the pocket and complete a pass on a scramble drill. The last quarterback to log no scramble passing yards through six weeks of a season was 2022 Tom Brady — the final season of a pocket passing titan.”
But it’s not time to write Stafford off.
Rams RB Kyren Williams will rush for 90-plus yards
The Rams must run the football against the Raiders, a team that struggles to stop the ground game. The Raiders are giving up 134.3 yards per game, which ranks No. 28 in the NFL. Keeping the ball on the ground needs to be a big part of the Rams’ game plan.“
Las Vegas Raiders need Eric Stokes’ best performance vs. Puka Nacua in Week 7 key matchups against Los Angeles Rams (sports.yahoo)
“After having a breakout performance last year, Stokes had a slow start this fall. He was targeted 24 times and allowed 15 receptions (62.5 completion percentage) for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Weeks 1-5, per PFF, after yielding just a 56.0 completion percentage, 261 yards and one score over 16 games in 2025.
However, the six-year veteran is coming off his best outing of the current campaign, surrendering just two catches on four targets for 29 yards to post a season-high 71.3 coverage grade against the Buffalo Bills’ high-powered offense. Diving even deeper, one catch and 23 of those yards came on a screen to running back James Cook, meaning Stokes only gave up one grab and six yards to the Bills’ receivers.“
This hypothetical trade would solve Rams’ 2026 kicking problems (ramswire)
“In his trade deadline pitches, Barnwell wrote that Los Angeles would acquire Shrader from the Colts for a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Playing his home games in a dome obviously helps, but Shrader is one of the league’s most accurate kickers, and he won’t be an unrestricted free agent until 2028. He is a useful player for the Colts, but he’s also not an essential piece for a team that’s rebuilding.“
‘It’s exciting’: New Rams kicker Brandon McManus looking forward to opportunity (therams.com)
“”It’s exciting,” McManus said. “Any chance you get to play this game that I love and have had the chance to play for a long time. I was excited to get the call to come out to do the workout yesterday, and I feel bad for Blake, obviously. He had the opportunity to come in and make a kick for the Rams and then he got hurt, so I wish him the best in his recovery. But it was exciting to get the call to come work out for this great organization.”
McManus last kicked for the Green Bay Packers, doing so in 2024 and 2025, and before that was the Jaguars’ kicker for the 2023 season. The bulk of his experience came from spending his first nine seasons with the Broncos (2014-2022), helping them win Super Bowl 50 in February 2016.“
LA Rams’ Offensive Woes: Can They Turn It Around Quickly? (sports.yahoo)
“Dan Sileo and former coach Mike Martz break down the Rams’ offensive struggles, highlighting key player issues and the need for a stronger running game.”
Comment of the day:
“Hopefully Landman being out turns into a blessing for the Rams and LB Dolac. And if it does, I will question the defensive rotations earlier in the season. You don’t know if a player will perform well if he is not given an opportunity. The same can be said about WR CJ Daniels. He performed well in the preseason but has not seen the field. With Davante Adams being out CJ should get an opportunity.” -AntmanGee
