Years ago when I lived in southern California, I worked at NAMM, an annual trade show organized by the National Association of Music Merchants. It featured launches of music gear by the major manufacturers. There were also small market companies looking to get picked up by buyers in different regions. For days on end, the Anaheim Convention Center was filled with shop owners and distributors. It was also a place to see celebrities.
One year my buddy hollered, “Hey, Shaq’s here!”
I looked out and from
what looked like a mile away, I could see a crowd. And there, head and shoulders above the crowd, was the three time NBA Finals MVP. O’Neal had released four albums by then, making a name for himself off the court as a musician.
I commented “Easiest ‘Where’s Waldo?’ ever.”
That’s how I feel when I watch Victor Wembanyama. He’s so much taller than everyone around him (he made Anthony Davis look diminutive – not an easy feat).
So when I saw this game, I had to laugh in spite of myself.
It took me three passes to find Wemby. And I still can’t see him from the start, only part way through.
How about you?
Did you find Victor Wembanyama?
