Lewis Hall’s recent performances for Newcastle United have drawn attention from one of the Premier League’s historic behemoths.
The latest reports point toward Manchester United as one of the leading clubs currently monitoring the defender ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old featured in Newcastle’s 1–1 Champions League draw with Barcelona at St James’ Park, where he was tasked with containing Lamine Yamal and put on one of the strongest efforts against the young Spaniard phenom this
season.
According to iNews’ Mark Douglas, Newcastle are expected to prioritize discussions over a new contract for Hall, with improved terms likely to be considered following his impressive development this season.
A separate report from Fichajes first linked Manchester United with the England international as part of a potential defensive reshuffle. The report claims the Red Devils are evaluating options at left-back, with Hall viewed as a possible addition.
Hall joined Newcastle permanently after an initial loan spell from Chelsea and has quickly become a regular option under Eddie Howe’s management.
No formal approach from Manchester United has been reported, however, and Newcastle are most likely keen to secure Hall’s long-term future before the transfer window opens, instead of just giving up on him so quickly after bringing him in.
Hall remains under contract, mind you, and any move would likely depend on Newcastle’s stance, asking price, and most of all, negotiations for a contract extension.
