Hello, Chicago Bears Fans! Our WCG writers are coming strong this week as the Bears look to get back on track after a disappointing loss against the Baltimore Ravens last week. This week is again a tale
of injury reports, as the Bengals are likely to be without their best defensive player, Trey Hendrickson, and Joe Flacco is playing with a sprain in his throwing shoulder. Meanwhile, the Bears have attempted to shore up their decimated defensive backfield by signing the infamous CJ Gardner-Johnson, who is indelibly ensconced in Bears fans’ memories for his confrontation with Javon Wims in the playoffs that led to Wims throwing hands against him.
Meanwhile, the Bears’ wide receiver room has caught the injury bug, with Luther Burden III out with a concussion and most of the top wide receivers listed on the injury report eaflier this week. How will all of this play out? Well, here is what we think will happen!
GOOCH: 38-14, Bears over the Bengals. The Bengals’ back end has been one of the worst in the NFL to date, and this week, they are without their best pass rusher. The Bears, on the other hand, get back Cole Kmet on the offensive side of the ball and Tyrique Stevenson on the defensive side. I expect Caleb to have a breakout game, throwing for over 300 yards and throwing three TD passes. Rome gets back on the board with one, and Loveland scores another. That guy, Kyle, rushes for over 100 yards on the day. Sweat and Booker register sacks against the ailing Flacco. And Flacco throws two interceptions in a route as the Bears steamroll the Bengals.
Sam: I’ve got a bad feeling here. Going on the road, this banged up, feels like a spot for the Bears to let us down. It’s a new era, but some things, like injuries, can’t be cured by coaching alone. Bengals 33-Bears 27
Jack R Salo: Both teams are banged up. I’m not expecting an all-time classic here. The line held steady at Bears -2.5, and I think that’s about what we end up with here. Bears 23-20 in a game where Ja’Marr Chase goes off, but a late target to him gets picked off, and the Bears limp home victorious.
Lester: I don’t give a damn which quarterback plays for the Bengals, the Bears are going to ground and pound their way to a 34 to 17 victory. Kyle Monangai will top 100 yards, Caleb Williams will play an efficient turnover-free game with a couple of TD passes, and the defense bounces back with three turnovers and three sacks.
Josh: Bengals 31-Bears 24. Until I see it, I don’t believe this offense wins a shootout. I think the defense keeps the score close for three quarters and then Cincy pulls away, with a garbage time TD making Chicago look more competitive than the game feels.
