The Green Bay Packers were already out one cornerback in Nate Hobbs (knee) coming into Sunday, before losing Keisean Nixon with a stringer. In the second quarter, Nixon ran full speed into the home sideline
and collided with defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt in a play that left Nixon down on the ground surrounded by the Packers’ medical staff.
Initially, Nixon was seen working out on the sideline with bands, hoping to re-enter the game. He was initially ruled questionable by the Packers, but was officially ruled out at halftime.
Without Nixon, Green Bay’s only cornerbacks are Carrington Valentine, Kamal Hadden and receiver convert Bo Melton. It was Hadden, not Melton, who stepped in Nixon’s place across from Valentine following the injury.
Coming into the game, neither Hadden nor Melton had ever played a regular-season NFL snap on the defensive side of the ball. We’re going a learn a lot about Hadden (if not Melton, too) in the second half of this Vikings game.
