All Elite Wrestling is back with their first PPV of the year — Revolution! The seventh annual edition comes our way tonight (March 15) from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for the second straight year, with the usual 8 p.m. Eastern start time.
Including a streaming pre-show that starts an hour earlier, the event will feature 13 total matches as of this writing. It”ll build to a big Last Chance Texas Death Match World championship main event, the last of eight title matches!
It’s a lot to process. But
we’ve got your backs. Cain previewed the whole affair here, and our motley crew is back to make predictions about the matches coming our way this evening, and muse about all things AEW along the way.
Let’s get to it.
AEW REVOLUTION PREDICTIONS
MJF (c) vs. Hangman Page for the AEW World championship
Sean Rueter: Convinced we’re gonna hot potato this for a few more months, maybe partly because Max has a big side-gig coming up that hasn’t leaked yet. Pick: Hangman Page
Claire Elizabeth: Texas Death is Hanger’s match, MJF is a coward and a scoundrel, and there’s no way on earth I would ever believe Hangman Page, in the prime of his career, would ever lose with this stipulation on the line. Pick: “Hangman” Adam Page
Cain A. Knight: It’s a really bad idea for Hangman to lose given the high stakes stipulation, but I think that’s exactly what the 2025 booker of the year plans to do. One way to get there is for Swerve Strickland to screw over the man who burned down his childhood home, or maybe Kevin Knight does it for him. Pick: MJF
Manolo H. Pizzazz: I refuse to believe that AEW would choose for Hangman to never challenge for the world title ever again. Sure, they could fudge it in the future. But, why make chicken shit when you have chicken salad? Pick: Hangman Page
Marcus Benjamin: I don’t want to pick against the cowboy in his match but it’s hard seeing Max lose the title so soon. Especially with AEW’s current momentum. This is one of those moments where I flip a coin like Two Face and let fate decide. Pick: MJF
Kyle Decker: I do think the safe bet is Hangman. But I think they stick with MJF here and pull more of a shocker with Hanger. There’s always ways for Page to get back there, whether as a babyface or a heel. I just don’t see MJF as a transitional champion, even though I could the scenario where they play hot potato before Ospreay wins it in London. Pick: MJF
Jon Velez-Jackson: Though I could see this one easily going either way, my gut tells me the champ retains. Pick: MJF
Thekla (c) vs. Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s World title
Sean Rueter: While the TV defense does make me wonder about a quick change here too, one of the top belts should have some stability. And there’s a lot more fun to be had with the Toxic Spider on top of this division. Pick: Thekla
Claire Elizabeth: First you gotta take the two out of three falls and multiply it by Thekla’s eight metaphorical legs, then take that and add two because of the Sisters of Sin, subtract two for Babes of Wrath but add it right back because they’re gonna be spent after defending the tag titles earlier in the night, multiply all of that by Kris Stat’s flex coefficient, and the answer is, well… toxic. Pick: Thekla
Cain A. Knight: I don’t see any point in taking the belt off Thekla so soon after she won it. Pick: Thekla
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Statlander told Thekla to be worried about what it will take to keep her down. I don’t think Thekla would care if she ended StatDaddy’s career. Advantage to the Toxic Spider. Pick: Thekla
Marcus Benjamin: This is the standard rematch after losing the championship. Look for the new champ to solidify her reign. Pick: Thekla
Kyle Decker: I think they give Thekla a bit of a run with the title. Pick: Thekla
Jon Velez-Jackson: I think The Cosmic Killer will come out on top, but I’d like to see these two continue to battle for the belt for the foreseeable future. Pick: Kris Statlander
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW Continental championship
Sean Rueter: Mox is getting cheers and playing by the Continental belt’s rules, but he still isn’t a traditional babyface — and The Alpha will be one when he’s done breaking free of The Callis Family. The champ’s willingness to play in the gray areas will be the difference. Pick: Jon Moxley
Claire Elizabeth: No time limit means they’re gonna beat the holy hell out of each other, and Continental Championship rules means their factions shouldn’t matter… but I still think Takeshita’s dedication to doing this one the “right” way is gonna cost him opposite Jon Moxley. Pick: Jon Moxley
Cain A. Knight: Okada keeps taunting Takeshita about not having a championship, so the next time Konosuke gets a title it has to come at The Rainmaker’s expense. Pick: Jon Moxley
Manolo H. Pizzazz: This match is a pick’em on paper. I’m thinking about what the future would hold for each man, win or lose. I see more upside with Moxley retaining. That could close the chapter between the Death Riders and the Callis Family. Moxley will have new challengers, and Takeshita can then focus on that Okada beef. Pick: Jon Moxley
Marcus Benjamin: This should be a lot of fun and very violent. Moxley’s an odd fit in the Death Riders at the moment, so this might be where they finally excommunicate their leader. Pick: Konosuke Takeshita
Kyle Decker: It definitely feels like this is leading to Takeshita winning that title. I think it leads to another unification match with the International title against Okada. Pick: Konosuke Takeshita
Jon Velez-Jackson: Not sure how Moxley is protected, but I’m picking Takeshita to leave with the belt. Pick: Konosuke Takeshita
FTR (c) vs. The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team championship
Sean Rueter: Seems like Beth Copeland’s name has been brought up one too many times recently for her husband and his prick of a best friend’s return to not be close. If they start the E & C reunion run now, they have them face the Bucks for the belts at Wembley. I’m not sure how all that plays into tonight exactly, but I imagine we have a couple more of two-on-two showdowns before both teams call it a career to make it a best of seven. Let’s say the Jacksons take a 3-2 lead in that series at Revolution though. Pick: The Young Bucks
Claire Elizabeth: Ostensibly we’re trying to decide which team is really for real the greatest team of their generation, right? That makes it easy. Pick: Young Bucks
Cain A. Knight: Maybe this is where Adam Copeland returns to screw FTR in front of the Young Bucks’ family. Pick: Young Bucks
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Stokely Hathaway will experience a miracle when he walks again out of his wheelchair to help FTR cheat for the win. Pick: FTR
Marcus Benjamin: I’m still holding out hope for the Canadian boys to take the titles off FTR. Pick: FTR
Kyle Decker: I say this every time and I’m normally wrong, but I’m still going with it. I think FTR holds those titles until Cope & Christian return to take them from them. That’s gotta happen eventually, right? Pick: FTR
Jon Velez-Jackson: Though I personally think FTR is a better team, Nick and Matt have a lot more to prove at this point. I see them upping the ante. Pick: The Young Bucks
Swerve Strickland vs. Brody King
Sean Rueter: Mr. King, as I like to call him, got to break Swerve’s chain. That was his win in this program. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Claire Elizabeth: Well one thing I know is that a feud about who’s more dangerous isn’t gonna end in one plain Jane vanilla wrestling match, so this one feels… precarious, in terms of having a real finish. But such as it is, I’m looking for Brody to pull off a big win and looking forward to hearing a certain seven letters arranged in two words chanted with gusto yet again. Pick: Brody King
Cain A. Knight: There’s a very big push coming for Swerve this year, whereas Brody was just one-and-done as far as AEW world title shots are concerned. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Manolo H. Pizzazz: King is more honorable, and Swerve will use his lack of scruples as an advantage. I have a feeling this is the start of a dangerous feud. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Marcus Benjamin: You know what? Swerve is my guy. He’s my favorite wrestler at the moment. But Brody is the hot hand and this is the perfect time to make him even hotter. Pick: Brody King
Kyle Decker: Love me some Brody but Swerve can’t lose his first big match after the heel turn. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Jon Velez-Jackson: Look for this match to be very competitive. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Revolution can be purchased on PPV.com, HBO Max, Amazon, DAZN, and YouTube, or you can buy it on traditional PPV
Internationally, it’s on Triller TV, and may be available via those providers as well.
Andrade El Ídolo vs. Bandido
Sean Rueter: I’m still surprised Hangman beat him in Australia, and after he didn’t think that I thought for sure he’d win the IWGP Global. Hopefully this isn’t throwing good “money” after bad, but… Pick: Andrade El Ídolo
Claire Elizabeth: Andrade is keeping his head up and keeping himself in the mix and critically, no stranger to an underhanded turn of strategy or two. Pick: Andrade el Idolo
Cain A. Knight: That the ROH world title isn’t on the line gives away the winner. Pick: Andrade El Ídolo
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Bandido is the Most Wanted Man, however, Andrade is the most wanted man. El Idolo needs to keep winning to keep getting honey dips. Pick: Andrade El Idolo
Marcus Benjamin: Like Brody, Andrade is hot right now. Also like Hansel. Let’s keep it that way. Pick: Andrade El Idolo
Kyle Decker: I don’t like Brodido’s chances tonight. Pick: Andrade El Ídolo
Jon Velez-Jackson: Andrade has a lot of momentum going right now, and I expect that to carry over here. Pick: Andrade El Ídolo.
The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis) (c) vs. Místico and JetSpeed (Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) for the AEW Trios championship
Sean Rueter: JetSpeed hasn’t been on the same page recently, and that will tip the scales in favor of ProtOkada! (ProtOkada!) and meaty Mark, even against the best-drawing wrestler in the world. Pick: The DCF
Claire Elizabeth: I just can’t see JetSpeed and Mistico gelling enough to overcome the inherent strategy advantage that the Callis Family team has in featuring a team that’s been together for over a decade in Aussie Open plus Okada’s ability as a former Ace of New Japan Pro Wrestling to handle himself in trios matches. Pick: Don Callis Familly
Cain A. Knight: Kevin Knight takes the fall to keep feeding into his eventual heel turn. Pick: Don Callis Family
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Mistico will bring Sky Team tricks to JetSpeed, but never bet against ProtOkada! Pick: Callis Family
Marcus Benjamin: There’s just too many people in Don’s family for them to ever lose anything like this. Pick: The Don Callis Family
Kyle Decker: It makes sense for the heel faction with 20 guys to hold these titles for a bit. Pick: The Don Callis Family
Jon Velez-Jackson: One of the benefits of having such a ridiculously large faction is having some of the top talent in the company. Pick: The Don Callis Family
Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron) (c) vs. Megan Bayne & Lena Kross for the AEW Women’s Tag Team championship
Sean Rueter: Frankly, I can’t believe the Megagsus hasn’t won gold in AEW yet. Pick: Megan Bayne & Lena Kross
Claire Elizabeth: x Pick:
Cain A. Knight: Willow Nightingale is wrestling twice at Revolution, and I think she’ll retain one belt while losing the other. Might as well do the title change on the main card rather than her pre-show bout. Pick: Megan Bayne & Lena Kross
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Towers of power. Pick: Megan Bayne & Lena Kross
Marcus Benjamin: x Pick:
Kyle Decker: I think the Babes of Wrath have a shelf life now with Willow also TBS champion. And if they want to showcase Megan Bayne (they should), this is a good spot to start. Pick: Megan Bayn & Lena Kross
Toni Storm vs. Marina Shafir
Sean Rueter: However great she is at this character, I’m not sure you can make Shafir a bigger deal than she is as Mox’s right-hand. But despite the hand-wringing you’ll hear about Storm’s recent booking in some corners of the wrestle web, her popularity is unaffected by wins and losses still, far as I can tell. So if there was ever a time to see what Marina can do with a huge PPV singles win, it’s now. Pick: Marina Shafir
Claire Elizabeth: Let’s face it, Toni’s a weird little scamp and she might have taken this match just to have an excuse to, uh… test a new way to get out of Mother’s Milk. Yeah, that’s the ticket… Anyway, motivations aside I have a long history of just not being able to pick against Toni and I’m not gonna start here. Pick: Toni Storm
Cain A. Knight: It might be time for Timeless Toni to get back in the world title mix, but she has to win here for that to happen. Pick: Toni Storm
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Storm can absorb information rapidly for any role. Her role here is martial arts fighter who will tear Shafir limb from limb. Pick: Toni Storm
Marcus Benjamin: My reasoning for picking Marina is the same reasoning for picking Brody earlier. Let’s elevate someone! Pick: Marina Shafir
Kyle Decker: Is this a good time for Toni to take a loss to help elevate Marina? She doesn’t have a title and doesn’t have a clear path in front of her. I think it is. Pick: Marina Shafir
Jon Velez-Jackson: It’s always hard for me to root against Storm, but Shafir has improved by bounds in the ring. Pick: Marina Shafir
The Dogs (David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, & Clark Connors) vs. Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, & Roderick Strong
Sean Rueter: I still don’t trust Roddy. Pick: The Dogs
Claire Elizabeth: Sorry dog people, they smell terrible and it doesn’t matter how well-behaved you think they are, they always get all up in my business and I can’t stand it. Pick: Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, & Roderick Strong
Cain A. Knight: I’ll go out on a limb and guess that Darby Allin does something insane to help his team win. Pick: Roderick Strong, Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Shillelagh power. Pick: The Dogs
Ricochet defends the AEW National title in the Blackjack Battle Royal
Sean Rueter: It can be pretty random who does their picks when in these posts (as evidenced by how the AEW ones are always spotty for some of Tony Khan’s later additions), but this time I’m one of the last to submit mine. And I’m sorry to spoil Cain and Kyle’s prediction for this battle royal, but I’m a pretty bummed neither of them even mentioned… Pick: The Blade
Claire Elizabeth: Anything can happen here but I’m really betting (annoying bird laugh) keeps the belt here. Pick: Ricochet
Cain A. Knight: It would be very strange for Ricochet to lose his belt in some random pre-show Battle Royal. Ciampa and Briscoe will probably eliminate each other along the way. Pick: Ricochet
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Losing a battle royal would be cheap way to finish this title reign. Pick: Ricochet
Marcus Benjamin: Picking the man whose social media makes me cackle regularly. Pick: Ricochet
Kyle Decker: I guess Ricochet? Pick: Ricochet
Jon Velez-Jackson: Tomasso Ciampa is hungry for some new gold. I bet he takes it here. Pick: Tomasso Ciampa
Boom & Doom (Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall) vs. The Infantry (Capt. Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo)
Sean Rueter: All I know is, whenever The Rizzler isn’t on my screen, everyone better be asking, “Where’s The Rizzler?“ Pick: Boom & Doom
Claire Elizabeth: Everybody loves the Boom, baby. Pick: Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall
Cain A. Knight: At least Shane Taylor isn’t the one doing the job for the Costco Guy. Pick: Boom & Doom
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Just like when I hit the toilet. Pick: Boom & Doom
Marcus Benjamin: I really have no idea why this is still a thing or why the office is making me pick. Pick: Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall
Kyle Decker: It’s a damn shame that AJ Styles didn’t sign with AEW so he could feud with or team with his fellow AJ. The AJs: The Phenomenal Boom. Oh well. In another universe. Pick: Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall
Jon Velez-Jackson: … Pick: Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall
Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Lena Kross for the TBS championship
Sean Rueter: She’ll survive this sizable challenge, but definitely be worn down — and maybe handicapped with an “injury” or two — for her title defense on the main card. Pick: Willow Nightingale
Cain A. Knight: Megan Bayne is the star of the team, so Lena Kross can take the loss here before she wins tag gold with Megan later in the night. Pick: Willow Nightingale
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Willow has the experience of a champion. Pick: Willow Nightingale
Kyle Decker: I see Willow going one for two, which means I see the same for Kross. Pick: Willow Nightingale
