The New England Patriots have added to their cornerback group. Kindle Vildor, a career journeyman who most recently played for the Buccaneers, is joining the team on a one-year contract.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was first to report the signing.
A fifth-round draft pick out of Georgia Southern in 2020, Vildor began his career in Chicago but failed to make it through the end of his rookie contract. After three seasons, he was let go by the team and took his talents to Tennessee, where he joined forces with
head coach Mike Vrabel. However, his stint as a Titan was short-lived and came to an end after six weeks.
Since leaving Nashville in mid-October 2023, Vildor spent time in Philadelphia, Detroit and most recently Tampa. Along the way, the 5-foot-11, 189-pound defender has appeared in 85 combined regular season and playoff games.
Vildor has a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble and a sack to his name. He also offers special teams experience, primarily on punt return and kickoff coverage as well as field goal and extra point block.
With the 28-year-old in the mix, the Patriots’ cornerback depth chart stands at eight players deep. Vildor is being joined by Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, Charles Woods, Kobee Minor, Marcellas Dial Jr. and Brandon Crossley.
