Penn State will hit the road for the first time this season with a cross-country trip to Pasadena, and while the spotlight will be on the entire team to see how they respond coming off a emotional loss,
here are a few Nittany Lions to keep an eye on tomorrow:
Drew Allar – It sure would be nice to see the Drew that we saw in the fourth quarter and first overtime period carry over into this game. Look for him to go vertical a little sooner than he did last week, and also look for him to have some success running the ball against the Big Ten’s worst rushing defense.
Kaytron Allen – Perhaps Nicholas Singleton finally breaks out, but my money is on Kaytron feasting and taking advantage of the UCLA’s leaky run defense. Don’t be surprised to see him put up a 150-yard and multiple touchdown type of performance tomorrow.
Devonte Ross – Can he carry over his impressive fourth quarter performance against Oregon into the Rose Bowl? Time will tell, but he has shown that he can be lethal in more than just being a deep threat, with his brilliant misdirection run for the game-tying TD. Look for more such plays to be deployed against the Bruins.
Kyron Hudson – Will the former USC receiver ball out against his former arch-rival? After not rendering a single catch against Oregon last week, this might be as good of a time as any for Hudson to break out and have himself a game.
Dom DeLuca – With Tony Rojas out for a while, Dom is the next man up at linebacker. While he may not have the athleticism of Rojas, he has shown that he can very much hold his own. I imagine UCLA’s new offensive play caller Jerry Neuheisel may try to pick on him and his part of the field to test him out. Perhaps Jerry should ask SMU’s offensive coordinator how well that worked out for them.
*Yes, he’s Rick Neuheisel’s son. No, he was not recently spotted at The Tavern.
