Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (31-44/35-21)
SYRACUSE 2, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 0 (BOX)
Brandon Sproat’s rollercoaster season continued last night, this time not just a good start, but one of his best starts in 2025, period. The last time he took the mound, on the 24 against Indianapolis, he allowed seven runs- five earned- in 3.2 innings. This time around, he threw a gem, blanking the RailRiders for seven innings, scattering three hits and walking a pair while striking out nine, tying his season high. Yonny Hernandez homered in the third to make
Sproat the winning pitcher of record, Ryan Clifford added a run in the top of the ninth, and the bullpen held things down, with Dylan Ross and Richard Lovelady combining to blank Scranton/Wilkes-Barre over the final two innings.

BINGHAMTON 2, SOMERSET 1 (BOX)
Both teams scored in the first inning, but Somerset was shutout from that point on. Binghamton plated a second run on an A.J. Ewing single and that would turn out to be the difference maker, as the bullpen did not allow another run to score despite scattering a pair of hits and a few walks.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (46-20*/25-34)
BROOKLYN 5, HUDSON VALLEY 4 (BOX)
The Renegades took the initial lead, scoring a run off of Dakota Hawkins in the top of the second, but Brooklyn tied things up in the bottom of the inning and did not trail from that point on. The Cyclones took the lead in the bottom of the third on a Marco Vargas RBI single and then added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on triple from Vargas and a double off the bat of Yohairo Cuevas. Hudson Valley kept the pressure on Brooklyn, scoring a pair of runs in the eighth, but the Cyclones got one of those back in the bottom of the frame. Things got dicey in the top of the ninth as they plated another run, but the bullpen was able to hold things together.

LAKELAND 7, ST. LUCIE 2 (BOX)
Southpaw Nick Correno got the spot start after not having pitched in any games since July 17, and things went predictably bad for the 19-year-old left hander, as he allowed 4 runs- 1 earned- over two innings. The bullpen after him was shoddy, so I put more blame on the loss on them and the bats rather than the teenager making his first start in weeks.
